Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below outlines the time slots that are reserved - not exams that have been confirmed. It is important to confirm with your instructor whether or not the final exam for the course will be held during this time period.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations where DEP conducts operator qualification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam content. If you require special accommodations because of chronic disease, visual or hearing impairment or other limitations Contact the exam provider and provide detailed documents when you register.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday has a "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty find their exam schedules. The Registrar's Office also has a schedule of exam times for the courses that are required to be tested under NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled during the regular class time during the final week of exams.

Registration

Exam sites try their best to accommodate participants who have special requirements. The nature and extent of these needs must be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a physician's attestation. The exam locations must also respect and maintain confidentiality.
If students are scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department in order to schedule a make-up test. It is possible to take three exams on the same day. However, this could cause a lot of stress and impact the quality of the exam. In addition, the professor might not be able conduct a makeup test on another day.
Before taking the exam students must prepare by reviewing their course material and practicing their German skills. The test is a written test that tests your ability to read, speak, and write German. The results of the test are presented using a scale ranging from A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies the achievement of language level A1. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competency laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free of cost. Students are required to bring a valid government ID to the test. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the style of the questions, their wording and the difficulty of the questions on the exam. They allow you to assess your understanding, find gaps and improve your chances of passing the test.
Please be aware that the fee for exams is not refundable. The results of the examination are only available via email and not by phone.
